During May 2025, UTM Library continued its commitment to empowering students through a series of engaging and impactful User Education Programs. Throughout the month, a total of five classes were conducted, reaching 470 students from various faculties and academic levels. These sessions were designed to strengthen students\u2019 research abilities, academic literacy, and overall confidence in navigating scholarly resources.<\/p>\n

The programs offered covered key areas that support both coursework and research activities. Students were introduced to effective information searching skills, enabling them to locate credible sources using library databases and online platforms. The UTM MOOC \u2013 Library Skills Module was highlighted as a flexible option for students who prefer self-paced learning. Hands-on guidance on EndNote gave participants a clearer understanding of citation management, helping them save time and stay organised when preparing academic assignments or theses.<\/p>\n

Another key component of the May classes was the Turnitin session, which helped students understand how to check originality, improve writing quality, and avoid unintentional plagiarism. In addition, the \u201cWhere to Publish?\u201d workshop provided valuable insights into selecting reputable journals, understanding indexing, and navigating the publication process\u2014especially beneficial for postgraduate students preparing for scholarly dissemination.<\/p>\n

The sessions collectively contributed to building stronger academic foundations among participants. Students reported improved confidence in tackling assignments, conducting literature searches, and applying proper citation practices. The programs also promoted responsible and ethical research behaviour, emphasising the importance of using trustworthy information sources.<\/p>\n
