The 4th Research Canvas Competition was successfully held from 4th July to 29th August 2021, in conjunction with the UTM Library Research Weeks 2021. The competition was jointly organised by UTM Library, SpringerNature and UTM Alumni.

Now in its fourth year, this annual initiative calls for participants to share their research and ideas through text and illustrations, in a form of canvas. The goal of the canvas is that it can be easily understood by all walks of life just by looking at the poster and without a presenter being present. However, for this year, participants are required to share their research and ideas relating to at least one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in their canvas.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the second year where all entries were submitted electronically. A total of 153 entries were received, the highest number of participants recorded since 2018. Announcement of winners was made on 30th September 2021, during the Closing Ceremony of UTM Library Research Weeks 2021, which was officiated by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Prof. Dr Rosli Md. Illias.
