The Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES), UTM, had the honor of welcoming two visiting researchers from Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU), Uzbekistan, to the UTM Libraries on 9 April 2025 (Wednesday).

The delegation included Dr. Melikuziev Mirkomil Vokhidjon Ugli and Mr. Sultanov Asror Nurali Ugli, accompanied by Dr. Rasyidah Mohamad Idris from CEES UTM, who served as the liaison officer during the visit.

The visit commenced at 2.15 PM at Perpustakaan Raja Zarith Sofiah (PRZS) and continued at 3.30 PM at Perpustakaan Sultanah Zanariah (PSZ). The main objective of the visit was to expose the guests to the extensive range of library services and facilities available at UTM, particularly in support of research and scholarly activities.

All the researchers were warmly welcomed by the UTM librarian, Pn. Nor Shaliza Mohd Basarudin, and library assistant, Pn. Norsyawani Mohd Ariffin who conducted the tour and explained the services and digital resources offered by both libraries.

Highlights of the Visit

During the tour, the delegation had the opportunity to explore several signature galleries housed within the UTM Libraries. One of the key attractions was the UTM Galerium, which chronicles the university’s rich evolution and development. The gallery preserves a wide array of artifacts and historical documents that reflect UTM’s journey and milestones in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and cultural arts. This immersive space offers visitors a deeper appreciation of the university’s legacy and ongoing contributions to education and innovation.

The guests also visited the Eminent Researchers Gallery, a dedicated space that celebrates the outstanding achievements of UTM’s distinguished researchers. The gallery features a curated display of awards, scholarly publications, and memorabilia that highlight the impactful work and global recognition earned by UTM’s research community. It serves as an inspiring tribute to academic excellence and leadership in research.

Another notable stop was the Raja Zarith Sofiah Gallery, located on Level 2 of the Raja Zarith Sofiah Library Building. This special collection consists of a wide range of reading materials across various disciplines, personally contributed by UTM’s Chancellor, Her Royal Highness Raja Zarith Sofiah ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah. The gallery not only reflects Her Royal Highness’s deep commitment to knowledge and education but also adds a personal and royal touch to the library’s scholarly environment.

In addition, the guests were particularly impressed by the carrel rooms, which provide a quiet, private space ideal for focused research, not to mention discussion room as well which provide a conducive and comfortable area for students to discuss amongst themselves without fearing of making too much noise and disturb another user.

Overall, this visit marked another meaningful step in library’s efforts to build international academic friendships and exchange knowledge in library innovation and research support.
