JOHOR BAHRU, 31 October 2025 – In conjunction with UTM Library EduVibe 2025, the Research Section organized a casual knowledge-sharing program titled “NGOPI Talk with Research Section”, held over three days from 29 to 31 October 2025 at the Interactive Space, Level 3, UTM Library JB.

The program, designed around an informal and friendly “coffee talk” concept, aimed to help students and researchers strengthen their research skills while discovering various support services provided by the library. Among the topics shared were publishing and open access opportunities, User Education Program, EndNote and Turnitin usage, database access, and exploring APC-free (Article Processing Charge-free) journals.

The NGOPI Talk provided participants with an opportunity to ask questions, learn, and interact in a relaxed and open environment. The program received encouraging participation, especially from postgraduate students and academic staff keen to enhance their research resource management skills.

A total of 66 visitors were recorded at the NGOPI Talk with Research Section booth. Based on feedback collected, 54 participants (82%) rated the session as “Excellent”, 4 (6%) as “Very Good”, and 8 (12%) as “Satisfactory”, reflecting a highly positive level of satisfaction with the program.

Feedback from students of the SSCU3622-02 Research Methodology and Information Retrieval course also highlighted significant learning impact. Their visit aimed to gain exposure to library resources, participate in the EduVibe 2025 event, and explore research materials related to their project titled “Numerical Approach to Groundwater Flow and Contaminant Transport Fields.”

During their visit to the NGOPI Talk booth, librarians demonstrated how to access research papers via the UTM Digital Library Database, conduct journal searches, and compare scholarly articles. A live demonstration on Turnitin was also conducted, covering account creation, similarity checking, and the difference between library accounts and official supervisor accounts.

Students reported that the session provided a deeper understanding of how to obtain credible and high-quality references and the importance of maintaining academic integrity. The casual atmosphere, complemented by free coffee, encouraged open and friendly discussions. Participants also received tokens of appreciation.

With the theme “Fuel your mind over coffee,” the program demonstrated UTM Library’s commitment to fostering a strong culture of research, innovation, and lifelong learning within the UTM community.
