UTM Library, in collaboration with Research Alliances and Elsevier, successfully organized a seminar on “Research Publishing and Ethics” on 21 May 2025, attracting 54 participants from the academic community.

Held at Seminar Room 3, Level 4, UTM Library PSZJB, the 90-minute session ran from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM and featured Dr. Benny Ang, Ph.D., Platform Consultant for Southeast Asia at Elsevier ScienceDirect, as the distinguished speaker. Dr. Ang shared valuable insights on navigating the complex landscape of academic publishing while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

The seminar addressed crucial topics relevant to both academic staff and students, including best practices in research publication, understanding journal selection criteria, avoiding predatory publishers, and adhering to ethical guidelines in scholarly communication. Participants engaged actively with the speaker, raising pertinent questions about their publishing concerns and seeking guidance on enhancing their research visibility.

The event exemplified UTM Library’s commitment to supporting the university’s research community by providing access to expert knowledge and fostering a culture of ethical academic practice. The strong turnout demonstrated the academic community’s keen interest in improving their research publication skills and understanding the evolving dynamics of scholarly publishing.
