UTM Library, in collaboration with Research Alliances, successfully organised an informative session titled “eBook Publishing with Elsevier” on 21 May 2025, attracting an encouraging turnout of 65 academic staff members. The programme was held at Seminar Room 3, Level 4, UTM Library (PSZJB) from 10.00 AM to 11.30 AM.
The session was delivered by Dr. Benny Ang, Ph.D., Platform Consultant for Southeast Asia, Elsevier ScienceDirect. He provided valuable insights into the processes, opportunities, and best practices involved in publishing academic eBooks with Elsevier. Participants were introduced to Elsevier’s publishing workflow, proposal evaluation criteria, content development requirements, and common factors that strengthen a book’s potential for acceptance.
Dr. Benny also shared practical guidance on identifying suitable subject areas, positioning manuscripts effectively, and collaborating with Elsevier’s editorial teams. The session included a walkthrough of ScienceDirect’s eBook features, showcasing how published works gain global visibility and reach.
The interactive Q&A allowed participants to seek personalised guidance on preparing eBook proposals, addressing scholarly publishing challenges, and understanding emerging trends in digital academic publishing.
UTM Library extends its appreciation to Elsevier and all participants. The Library remains committed to supporting UTM researchers through continuous training and initiatives that enhance scholarly communication and publication readiness.
